This conference focused on enterprises and their contribution to sustainable development. The first part of the summer academy aimed at analyzing the complexity of economic, social and cultural aspects of business activities and their impact on the transition towards sustainability. Company culture and organizational behavior were analyzed with a focus on proactive learning processes and inter-organizational networks. The second part explored options, strategies and tools of sustainable management and sustainability reporting. Sustainable enterprises will be learning organizations integrating environmental and social issues into business practices by interacting and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. An important aim of the summer academy also was to establish closer links to Central and Eastern European countries regarding the joint effort of sustainable development as a means of social and economic change.
