Abstract | The goal of this research is to explore the conceptual framework and implementation arrangement for Pro-poor Land Management in developing countries. A case study methodology has been applied. Two cities Kanthmandu Valley (Nepal) and Allahabad (India) were taken for this study. In both of the cities, the slum dwellers live without tenure rights, in very poor conditions, and mostly occupied public land. A structured set of concepts/definitions regarding pro-poor land management has been discussed. Various organisations that are lobbing for pro-poor land management are identified. For the development of conceptual framework for Pro-poor land management, the current situation is analysed through SWOT analysis and six setp-wise approach has been explored for Pro-poor land management. The findings from this research study give a guidelines for policy makers and implementation agencies to apply Pro-poor land management tools in developing worlds. |
