Abstract

In this 30-minute presentation for the 4th CAUL OER Collective Academic Authors Community of Practice meeting, I outline writing and design considerations for authoring an open textbook, based on my experience as an editor. This includes:
- choosing and applying style guides and style sheets
- structuring your open textbook
- writing and revising content
- writing the first draft
- creating and curating figures, images and multimedia
- creating interactive learning objects
- choosing and applying a Pressbooks theme/template
- creating a book cover.
