Biography
Kathy attended the University of Southern Queensland earning her Bachelor of Commerce (Business Law), Juris Doctor, and subsequent PhD. Originally from the United States, Kathy has lived in Australia for over 30 years and has worked in the legal profession for over 16 years.
Kathy is a Management Committee Member with the Inala Community Legal Centre; co-organiser of the UniSQ Vulnerable Persons Conference, which aims to draw on the vulnerabilities of “at risk” individuals in various settings; and the Academic Integrity Officer for the UniSQ School of Law and Justice.
Kathy is a senior lecture in family law studies at the University of Southern Queensland, concentrating on the areas of Family Law, Child Protection, Domestic Violence, and Research Projects and Dissertations. She has completed her PhD dealing with legal considerations and policy recommendations afforded to self-represented individuals within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Child Protection Courts (Access to Justice: Why do litigants self-represent in Queensland child protection courts?)
