Abstract

George SanFacon was Director of Housing Facilities at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Under his leadership, George transformed this 250-person department through introducing a shared governance model - the senior managers became the Facilities Council, four self-directed Management Teams were established, and collective-consensus decision-making embedded. Throughout this process, George aspired to live out the deeper meaning of servant-leadership. In this interview, he shared some of his conclusions and thoughts about the needs of people for community and personal growth.
