Abstract

Plant disease caused by fungi is responsible for crop losses of over 10% in Australia every year. (Cahill, 1994). The need to understand how disease resistant plant tissues respond when challenged by a pathogen very important. Various aspects of the interaction between an avirulent fungus and a resident cell may be studies to further understand the phenomenon of plant disease resistance.
