Abstract

This collection of essays aims to achieve 'a systematic analysis of Hong Kong's political, social (or socio-economic) and cultural relations with China' (p. xiv) as the territory made its transition from British to Chinese sovereignty. It is divided into three sections: politics before and after 1997, social and economic interactions between Hong Kong and China, and the making of Hong Kong identity.
