Abstract

Chapter 1 of this compiled text (of other Pearson publications) is an introductory chapter that sets the reader up for success in both courses as it scaffolds not only the delivery of the content, but more importantly, all assessment items for the students. This should optimise academic results as well as student retention. The notion of both assessment and reporting are well explained in clear detail along with the five (5) principles of quality assessment. This chapter helps to 'set the scene' for further reading and study of assessment used in contemporary Australian school contexts.
