AbstractThe athletes’ covert and overt behaviours, which include action , activity , performance , reaction , and response , generates an amount of interest among researchers and practitioners in the field of sports. The purpose of this article is to explore the integrated insight of sport psychology and performance analysis in multiple sports, namely field hockey, badminton, football, rugby sevens, lawn bowling, and netball, during sporting events. The 5Is Behavioural Analysis process, which consisted of (1) Input, (2) Identify, (3) Insight, (4) Intervention, and (5) Impact, was established and applied by the authors through incorporating sport psychology’s behavioural methodology of direct observation and measurement of actions with performance analysis. Interactive integration by each individual involved with the team was consistently conducted and optimally maintained through effective communication throughout the whole process. With the inclusion of behavioural measures, the process may eventually bridge the gap between practice and research. The potential of conducting a more comprehensive behavioural analysis on the respective opponents faced and establishing a behavioural database on the prospective reactions and responses on relevant situations may help to increase the possibility of converting previous unfavourable outcomes into potential future successes in the field of high-performance sport setting. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
