Biography

As an occupational therapist with a passion for mental health, I am excited to bring my expertise to the newly established occupational therapy program at UniSQ. My background includes experience as a mental health clinician, working with children and adults in a variety of settings, including community, acute, and inpatient.

In 2022, I completed my PhD, which focused on exploring leisure engagement in mental health inpatient units in Australia. My research shed light on the importance of leisure activities in promoting mental health and well-being, particularly in inpatient settings. I am committed to continuing to advance the field of occupational therapy through research and innovation.

I am also proud to co-host a new podcast called Unify: the Interprofessional Health Podcast with Dr. Anna Girardi, a speech pathologist. Together, we explore the intersection of various healthcare disciplines and discuss ways in which we can work collaboratively to improve patient outcomes. Our podcast is a platform for healthcare professionals to learn from one another, share ideas, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing our industry.

My clinical experience, combined with my academic background and involvement in the podcast, enables me to bring a unique perspective to my work as an educator. I am dedicated to training the next generation of occupational therapists to provide compassionate and evidence-based care to those with mental health conditions. I believe in empowering my students to become agents of change, both in their practice and in the broader healthcare system.

If you're interested in connecting with me to discuss occupational therapy, mental health, or our podcast, please feel free to reach out.
