Biography
Dr Jessica Levick is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy and the Program Coordinator of the Associate Degree of Allied Health at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). With over 11 years of experience as an occupational therapist, Jessica specialises in mental health and is passionate about enhancing consumer engagement in leisure activities within acute mental health settings.
Driven by her clinical experiences as a mental health clinician, her doctoral research focused on understanding leisure engagement within mental health inpatient units, including stakeholder perspectives, policy reviews, and quality improvement strategies.
Throughout her career, Jessica has worked extensively within Queensland Health, supporting individuals with severe and complex mental health issues. Her clinical experience spans community case management, intensive outreach, acute inpatient care, and mental health crisis response, including her role as a Co-Responder with the Queensland Police Service. For the past seven years, she has primarily worked as a mental health clinician in the Emergency Department at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Jessica’s academic journey began in 2013 at UniSC and transition to UniSQ in 2022, where she has been instrumental in developing the new occupational therapy program. She continues to collaborate with Metro South Mental Health and Addiction Services, contributing to research focused on improving leisure engagement and enhancing recovery-oriented practice within acute mental health environments.
