Research Background: Field, Context and Research Question
The research field / question that my work is focused on involves site-orientated practices inherit in the task of demarcating the relationships between varying constructed, virtual and intuitive spaces. As a result the subsequent artwork that is created addresses differences within space, site and locations as fragmented stimuli that are deconstructed and reconstructed as paintings, photographs, drawings, wall paintings, installations and object design. ‘Intuitive Abstraction’ has become a central thematic in the research as it involves the creation of sophisticated and detailed environments that take place conceptually, theoretically and practically within various visual modes of production. The Centre for Contemporary Non Objective Art (CCNOA) Brussels, Belgium is an internationally recognised gallery that exhibits international artists who create work based within abstraction and related methodologies. This exhibition gave me the opportunity to hold a solo international exhibition where I was able to conflate my painting practice with architectural based wall painting which underscore conceptual and methodological issues I am engaged with.

Research Contribution - Innovation/New Knowledge
Throughout my practice and research of the past 10 years (including my PhD) I have been engaged with the idea of “Intuitive Abstraction’ and how these create a ‘Soft Architecture’. Both these terms involve a synthesis between architecture, visual art and the use of abstraction within both fields and how they can be conflated together through an evolving dialogue of research, practice and visual investigations. This exhibition has continued to allow me to further develop issues related to my ongoing investigations into these various modes of practice and theory and as a result this solo exhibition allowed me to exhibit separate works such as painting with wall painting within the one space. This creates a dialogue for how a painting to an architectonic wall painting is read and understood within the one space. In such an exhibition the place, people and architecture all play a vital role in the shifting methodology of the work.

Research Significance — Evidence of Excellence
As a result of this exhibition I have been included in several large group exhibitions held at larger commercial galleries and museums e.g. ‘Minimal Pop’ which has travelled throughout Europe as well as America and ‘Australia – Contemporary Non-Objective Art’ which was a touring group exhibition in Germany. This exhibition has opened up the area of investigation for my art practice as well in terms of methodological advancements. It has allowed me to further investigate and research the conflation of varying artistic practices within one space and to further produce research both theoretically and visually that continues to be focused on intuitive notion of abstraction related to architecture and visual art. This area of investigation is a burgeoning area for a many visual artists in the world who are engaged with such interdisciplinary theoretical collaborations
