Description of Work

This site is a documentary about how a group of rural residents from the Maryvale/Goomburra districts in south east Queensland, Australia, established their own community based self-help purchase and installation scheme for the provision of satellite television and radio services. It also reveals how they did it and what sort of issues to look out for at both local and federal government levels. You can read the research that emanated from this project and also, discover how an empowered group of over 40 year olds, learnt to manipulate new digital technologies and improve their quality of life.

The research outcome was located online but is no longer available. As an online documentary the site contained eleven embedded videos totaling 48 minutes in duration.
