Abstract | As with some other content within the primary school curriculum, a number of teachers are anxious about teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and in teaching about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and languages. Subsequently, these aspects are often not addressed well, and in some instances not at all - not because of any position on the part of teachers, but due to apprehension borne from a lack of knowledge that has resulted in a pedagogy of benign neglect. |
