Abstract | A brief review on wave–current interaction is presented. The simplest model of vortical shear flow – the current with a linearly varying velocity with depth is considered and results obtained are compared with the uniform current case. Different scenarios of wave blocking depending on the Froude number and other governing parameters (water depth, surface tension, vorticity) are discussed in details. The weakly nonlinear effects are also taken into consideration, while the majority of presented results were obtained in the linear approximation. |
