Abstract

This work investigates the impact of waste glass when used as an additive to a traditional concrete mix, as well as when used within a recycled concrete aggregate material over multiple cycles of re-use. Two concrete mixes were prepared, a standard 32 MPa concrete (control) and a concrete with 20% waste glass sand. The samples were cured for a period of 28 days and then tested for strength (UCS) and ASR. After strength testing the samples were re-crushed into a recycled aggregate and incorporated into a new concrete mix as a 10 mm aggregate. This process was repeated over 3 reuse cycles.
