Abstract | This book chapter comprehensively covers power electronic converters in MEA. It begins with the introduction of power electronic converters in MEA power systems and addresses power quality issues from a broad perspective. The section elaborates on power electronic converters' pivotal role in MEA power systems, emphasizing the compelling need for enhancing power quality in this context. Conventional converters for power quality improvements delve into the utilization of traditional converters, and various configurations for electric aircraft are discussed. Finally, the focus is on extensively exploring the control of APFs in MEA applications and evaluating their performance. It presumably provides an explanation of fundamental control methods. Furthermore, the chapter presents MATLAB simulation results to empirically demonstrate the effectiveness of three methods (i.e. PQ, DC voltage, and SRF control methods) in elevating power quality within the MEA power system. Collectively, this chapter offers a comprehensive view of the challenges and solutions related to power quality enhancement in MEA applications. This work may be useful for further research on improving the power quality by reducing %THD of electric aircraft power systems. |
