Biography

Jackie Webb is an environmental scientist specializing in issues relating to water quality of aquatic systems in agricultural landscapes. Her particular expertise resides in ecosystem biogeochemistry, with a focus on hydrological monitoring, carbon and greenhouse gas accounting, and development of quantitative models to solve environmental issues. Previous positions include working as a casual academic within the School of Agricultural and Wine Sciences at Charles Sturt University and as a postdoctoral researcher working on the carbon and GHG balance of agricultural dams at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada. Jackie completed her PhD at Southern Cross University in Australia where she studied carbon cycling in agricultural floodplains. Her main research focus has included integrating carbon cycles between terrestrial and aquatic systems, carbon dioxide and methane biogeochemistry in fresh to coastal waters, hydrology and groundwater tracing, greenhouse gas fluxes, and stable isotopes. From 2020-2024, Jackie worked as a research fellow at Deakin University Centre for Regional and Rural Futures, conducting applied research on soil health, crop nutrient cycling, and the carbon footprint of water infrastructure in irrigated farming systems. Since 2024, Jackie embarked on a new journey at the University of Southern Queensland as a Lecturer in Environmental Science.
