Abstract | We present some examples of the complexities and meanings of cultural influences upon the process and outcome of qualitative research projects carried out in the Malaysian education setting. Upon confronting these challenges, the three researchers have developed a personalised approach tailoring to the distinctive characteristics of their participants who were Malaysian teachers and students. |
