Abstract | This study reports the journey of using a novel approach of using the simile construction as biological-cells in order to find a better approach for managing quality in cellular-construction. Ontological and epistemological issues regarding are discussed choosing postmodernism as a basis for comprehending reality, thereby creating knowledge by applying logic (reason) to questions in order to develop justified beliefs. Intuitive and reflective inferences have been made throughout when using simile as when synthesising the Readiness-Growth-Rest model and associated concepts. The approach adopted for such synthesis is explained through using another simile, namely, methodology as spiral. This study advocates the use of the simile (cum metaphor) approach for exploring solutions to perennial problems. Challenges encountered in the use of similes are explained including how these could be used for advancing the notion of theory as scientific practice. |
