Abstract

The History & Heritage Working Group of SEAAN was formed in December 2013 to promote research on the history of SE Asian astronomy, encourage research collaborations, support the presentation of results at conferences, seminars and through publications, and from time to time to arrange H&H conferences. Active members of the WG reside in Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Scotland, Sweden, Thailand, the USA and Vietnam. During 2021–2022, research projects by WG members related to Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and SE Asian in general. Highlights included the publication of an English translation of Ambrosio’s classic, Balatik (see Ambrosio et al., 2021), and publication of the first-ever English-language volume on the History of SE Asian Astronomy (Orchiston and Vahia, 2021). Despite the continuation of COVID, 2021 and 2022 proved to be very productive years for members of the Working Group, as the following Report will indicate.
