Biography
Dr Alexandra Lawson is based in Toowoomba, Queensland where she completed her PhD at UniSQ in visual art in 2015 on participation in art. At the time she co-owned an artist-run gallery named RAYGUN PROJECTS (www.raygunlab.org). Since 2016 she has worked as an art curator and agent/dealer via her gallery ALG (www.alexandralawsongallery.com). In 2018 Lawson worked with the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery to facilitate international and local artists producing art exhibitions, lectures and experiences through a project, ‘The Regions’. In 2020 she set up a gallery and Artists Studio at Walton Stores in the Toowoomba CBD as a part of the Toowoomba Regional Council’s ‘Creative CBD,’ working with Renew Australia, which facilitates arts businesses revitalising regional CBDs. Lawson continues to work with artists to curate and present exhibitions, often writing the essays to accompany these. Most recently Lawson lectures and has been developing new courses for Visual Arts within the School of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland.
