Biography

Dr. Anna Girardi is a Lecturer in Speech Pathology and the Program Coordinator of the Associate Degree of Allied Health at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). She completed her Ph.D. at The University of Queensland in 2016, where her research focused on the impact of burn injuries, particularly from button battery and chemical ingestion, on paediatric feeding and swallowing.

With over a decade of experience as a speech pathologist in hospital settings, Dr. Girardi has developed extensive expertise in clinical practice, particularly in managing dysphagia and feeding difficulties. Her current research interests include the application of artificial intelligence in speech pathology assessment, advancing the interpretation of videofluoroscopic swallow studies, and exploring dysphagia presentations in individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.

Dr. Girardi holds a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from The University of Queensland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Bond University, and a Bachelor of Arts specialising in Psychology from Griffith University. As the University Representative for the Speech Pathology Australia QLD Branch at UniSQ, she actively contributes to the advancement of speech pathology practices in the region.
