Biography
Dr Kamrun Nahar completed her PhD from The University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Environmental Engineering, has approximately ten years’ experience in university-based teaching and research. Her research background spans environmental contaminants and impacts, particularly perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), microplastics and heavy metal contaminants in subsurface soils, groundwater, surface water and the atmosphere, environmental impact assessments of waste-based construction materials, and environmental policy and sustainability. Professionally she worked as a research associate in UNSW and as a lecturer at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh.
Kamrun currently works as a lecturer in water engineering for the School of Engineering at the University of Southern Queensland.

UniSQ Capacity Building Grant | Simple Cost-Effective Method for Detecting PFASs by Spectrofluorometry. The fundamental idea of this research was to develop a new low cost method using fluorescence spectroscopy for PFOA and PFOS analysis in water. The method establishment process will involve investigating the interaction between PFOS and PFOA with triarylmethane dye (crystal violet, CV) and measurement of the enhanced Resonance Light Scattering (RLS) signal by synchronously scanning the excitation and emission monochromators of the fluorescence spectrophotometer through a range of wavelengths. Additionally, the optimal conditions, hydrodynamic size, absorption spectrum will also investigated, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images was recorded. | 2020 |
Faculty Collaboration Grant | A critical review of model‐input parameters on herbicide fate and transport in the GBR catchment. | 2020 |
