Abstract | Professions that attract lower student numbers to the academic program that bears the signature hallmark of that profession are being placed under increasing pressure to justify the continuation of the academic program. The surveying profession and associated academic program are directly in the ‘line of fire’ and the current state of the employment market exacerbates the current status quo. Many organisations are currently struggling to attract employees with demand far outstripping supply. This article will examine the financial implications of a mix of study and employment options faced by students. A subsequent article will examine the option for cadetship programs offered to students by potential employers. |
