Abstract

Established in 1967, to provide on-campus higher education opportunities primarily for residents of the Darling Downs
region of Southern Queensland, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) became a dual mode institution when it initiated distance education delivery in 1977. Twenty years later, the USQ has over 13,000 distance education students studying off-campus in over 40 countries, and almost 5,000 students studying on-campus in Toowoomba.
