Abstract | The 'Herbal Preparation' section of a recent review of Alternative Headache Treatments by Sun-Edelstein and Mauskop1 identified a proprietary CO2 extract from butterbur root (PetadolexR, Weber & Weber GmbH, Inning am Ammersee, Germany) and a heterogenous group of feverfew preparations of which the recent introduced CO2 extract MIG-992,3 was the most promising feverfew extract for the prophylaxis of migraine. We caution against this recommendation; a reproductive screening test of fever few has indicated that a comprehensive reproductive study is urgently warranted prior to widespread use. |
