Abstract | Notes for Plenary Panel: I will also, if time permits, mention the human rights that are relevant to any discussion of hate speech. There is quite a lot that could be said about this, notably with reference to recent events: the media furore over Israel Folau’s social media post(s) and the debates a few years ago now over racial vilification and s 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth). |
Keywords | Hate speech, racial hatred, anti-discrimination law, Racial Discrimination Act 1975, human rights |
