Abstract | CBT, EMDR, IPT, REBT, DBT, PCT, EFT, NLP, ACT, and the list go on. Which is most effective for whom? Or is this the wrong question? This workshop critiques the Medical Model treatment assumptions as applied to counselling and suggests that the potent therapeutic ingredients are found in factors common across bone fide therapies. Drawing on counselling outcome research findings, the workshop will highlight what is associated with successful therapy with a particular emphasis on practical ways of incorporating this knowledge into one’s counselling practice. |
