Abstract

Several years ago, the counselling discipline I worked in merged into the university’s school of psychology. With the changes came a greater emphasis on collaboration between the psychology and counselling disciplines but also questions about what the differences were and where the boundaries should be. In addition to this, students often asked staff to describe the differences so they could determine their own study pathways, and the answers would differ from different
members of staff.
