Abstract

Clients who drop out from treatment can leave counsellors feeling bewildered and costs counsellors both time and loss of income. In addition, clients themselves may miss out on gaining optimum benefit from treatment. This article summarises the scholarly literature on what therapy drop outs are, the reasons for them, and discusses strategies to increase client retention.
