Abstract

Recently Foamed Bituminous Stabilisation (FBS) in rehabilitation of flexible pavements has become popular due the quality of the final product from using purposely made, environmentally responsible machineries to support the construction works for long-term performance. This paper documents the results of technical investigations carried out to improve the performance jointly by the contractor and the client for a FBS work in Oakey, Queensland. Results from several testings, including coring samples from the completed sections and subsequent MATTA testing to estimate resilient modulus were used when making modifications to
the design for improved outcomes. The strategies documented here would be very useful for both the client and the contractors to deliver a long-team benefit to the public from the investments in road rehabilitation works.
