Abstract | Impact...such a small word and yet, such a big word within education. As a classroom teacher for almost 20 years, the ideologies of impact held and maintained by Westernised institutions continues to devalue the achievements of Indigenous students within the classroom as they are not meeting the 'standards' set. In this presentation, I share how a group of Year 10 Indigenous students reinterpreted Romeo and Juliet and 'grew' as they engaged and participated in learning. I share how the impact of this one English unit not only impacted on the students' but also, impacted the teacher. |
