Abstract | There is an increasing trend in the application of cable bolts as a secondary support system in tunneling and underground coal mines worldwide. The performances of cable bolts under both axial and shear loading conditions have been assessed previously. Two methods of shear testing of cabe bolts are available, single and double shear tests, hence this paper examines the numerical simulation of the shear performance of indented SUMO cable bolts subjected to single and double shear tests. The Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC 2D) was used for simulstion and the results were compared with experimental test results. It was observed that FLAC 2D is capable of simulating the performance of cable bolt satisfactorily. |
