| Abstract | This project investigated the feasibility of using wastewater treatment plant sludge to supplement concrete mixtures to reduce the overall amount of cement used in the concrete mixture. The amended concrete mixture is intended to lower the carbon footprint, reduce operational costs, save water, and minimise environmental impacts of the disposal of the treated waste. The first phase of the project was dedicated to determining the characteristics of typical wastewater sludge, undertaking initial concrete preparation with different sludge ratios and the analysis of the prepared concrete for its leaching potential and odour release. |
