Abstract | The project is progressing smoothly on schedule as shown below. The projected milestones and deliverables have all been achieved as detailed in Section 'Results and Discussion'. As of December 2013, we have completed the optimization of in-situ glucoamylase production from cake waste. Meanwhile, the saccharification level of mixed type food wastes (from cafeteria) was investigated using in-situ produced enzyme solution, and the optimization studies were started. The two bioreactors with essential control software now are ready for the next phase of experiments. The waste volume reduction after enzymatic saccharification was also evaluated. |
