Abstract | In the seventh report, additional investigation and analysis of the ultrasonication were conducted. The maximum ULS specific energy input tested was 63 kJ/g TS. Low energy ULS effectively reduced particle size in sludge. Excitation Emission Matrix (EEM) was used and soluble microbial product-like substances were found to increase obviously after ULS pre-treatment. Sludge anaerobic biodegradability increased linearly with increasing SCOD concentration. A standardized dewaterability measurement (Capillary Suction time, CST) was conducted for ULS pre-treated sludge with different specific energy inputs. ULS was found to significantly deteriorate the sludge dewaterability. |
