Biography

My journey in teacher education started with studying a bachelor degree in mathematics education, followed by teaching primary and secondary school mathematics. After working as a school mathematics teacher, I studied master’s degrees in Mathematics curriculum and instruction. Then, I worked as a lecturer at University of Ilorin before joining the University of New England in 2018. I completed my doctoral degree from the University of New England and I am currently working as a Lecturer in Mathematics Curriculum and Pedagogy here at USQ .

I’m interested in doing research that relates to exploring and designing inquiry-based pedagogy for varied contexts and students' needs, developing fair assessment strategies using evidence-based assessment models, encouraging students' engagements, advancing retention of mathematical concepts, bridging the gap between low and high ability students, learning mathematics for functional citizenry, and enhancing meaningful learning of mathematical concepts. My long-term goal is for students to achieve a perfect understanding of mathematical concepts that will be useful for their daily activities.
