Abstract

This article presents the Games within Games (GwG) approach which physical education (PE) practitioners can use with classes to promote social-emotional learning outcomes. The goal is to help students alter their perceptions of success and how they view themselves and their abilities when engaging in games and sports. The article explores how participation in PE classes can influence the development of students’ social-emotional skills and dispositions. It also explains the GwG approach and its roots within the pedagogy of Exaggeration. Practical, real-world examples of how GwG can be applied are also included, along with final thoughts on the challenges and benefits of using this pedagogical method.
