Abstract

This article is a reflection on the author's professionally produced play, Ghosts of Leigh, particularly its genesis in childhood and adolescent experience of gender non-conformity. The work is also a reflection on artist and designer Leigh Bowery as an influential figure for those who embark on a journey away from 'normal'.
