Abstract | Doctoral writing is littered with academic highs and lows. These are to be expected and accepted as part of the process when striving for academic success. Following the data gathering comes the write-up, and this may be a major stumbling point to completion. This chapter examines the strategies that I put in place to mitigate my feelings of isolation during my thesis write-up. My writing tribe was invaluable to my feelings of place in the academic world. My tribe encompassed both online and face-to-face support that I both gave and received during the long, lonely hours in front of the computer. |
