| Abstract | In early 2024, four Australian universities (Edith Cowan, Murdoch, Southern Queensland, and Southern Cross) collaborated on a national benchmarking project examining in-school Enabling courses, supported by ACSES funding. Using NAEEA’s benchmarking framework, this first-of-its-kind study responded to the Universities Accord Final Report’s call for greater equity in higher education access. The project aimed to understand models of embedded high school Enabling programs by benchmarking and calibrating outcomes, assessments, and grading. Benchmarking revealed strong consistency across institutions in course design, partnership models and learning goals. This presentation shares key findings, including insights into best practice in designing embedded programs, student and educator perceptions on the efficacy of these programs as preparatory for university and outcome data, to showcase best practices for creating rigorous, supportive pathways to further study. |
