Abstract | Photovoltaic systems having different solar cell efficiencies and module fabrication costs per square meter but the same power output and energy demand were compared with each other. For given costs per peak watt of the modules or the complete system and known fabrication costs per square metre, the required solar cell efficiency can be calculated. The lower limit of the fabrication costs determines the minimum solar cell efficiency required. |
