Abstract | First year business students generally do not seriously consider the employability skills they need to acquire in their early years of study (Nevill, 1988). Through mapping of WIL activities conducted the first course in accounting; students are given the opportunity to hear from industry speakers and career consultants about what they require in potential employees. Through such activities, students will be better able to appreciate that career preparation should begin in the first year and that this will be extended in courses of study in subsequent years. There will also be opportunities to network and grow their social and professional profile. |
