Abstract | Sedentary behaviour comprises a range of sitting (and lying down) behaviours characterised by very low-energy expenditure. There has been a major increase in research interest in sedentary behaviour over the past few years and a growing concern among health and education professionals, as well as parents, that excessive ‘screen time’ might be directly affecting the health of young people by setting the preconditions for metabolic dysfunction. |
