Biography
Ellen Larsen is a Senior Lecturer (Curriculum and Pedagogy) at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). Ellen works with preservice teachers to develop capabilities in a range of pedagogies, including new pedagogies for deep learning, data-driven and evidence-based teaching and learning and has been involved in Initial Teacher Education program accreditation and the implementation and coordination of the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA) for the university. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Ellen served on the Australian Teacher Education Association (ATEA) Executive 2020-2021 as the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Representative and on the Australian Association of Research in Education (AARE) executive as ECR Representative 2022-2023. She is also the convenor of the national Teachers' Work and Lives Special Interest Group (2022-current). She has supported ECRs through her leadership of the Teacher Education Early Career Researcher Advocacy and Action (TEECRAA) group at UnisQ from 2020-2023. In 2020, Ellen was nominated for the prestigious Ray Debus Award for Doctoral Research in Education and was awarded the ATEA ECR Grant. Her research interests are focused on the work of early career educators including beginning teachers, and more recently, practicing preservice teachers. Her body of research includes topics of professional learning, mentoring, professional identity, education policy, and professionalism. She works extensively with schools to develop future-focused mentoring programs.
