Biography
Susan Carter is a Senior Lecturer and Specialisation Coordinator (Special and Inclusive Education) at the University of Southern Queensland. She was an educational leader (Principal, Associate Principal and Deputy) leader in a number of Queensland schools for over a decade. Her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others underpins her research which focuses on wellbeing, inclusion and special educational needs, and social justice.

ARC Recycling Grant | I was Lead Chief Investigator and awarded a grant for $5000 grant linked to advocacy for recycling and education. This resulted from an innovative approach to engage complex learners in literacy where together. I obtained extensive community support and donations for a car, paint for the car, convinced a tow truck company to deliver the car free to the school and later to transport it to Brisbane (2 hours away). I convinced the school principal to let my class to use permanent paint on the car, covering it with messages regarding recycling. This car was exhibited in Brisbane and a photo was published in the Courier Mail. | 1998 |
