Abstract

The past decade has seen an increase in tertiary online education (and online education was of
course the default method of delivery at most universities during the Covid-19 pandemic).
Little research, however, has explored the experiences of online students and how to best
support their transition to university study. This article discusses the development of lawspecific resources on academic integrity and the academic environment designed to help first
year online law students transition to university. Moreover, it analyses students’ responses to
the resources collected through student surveys and semi-structured interviews of participating
students. Findings show that the law-specific resources had a positive impact on first year
online law students often leading to an enhanced understanding of academic concepts and
increased confidence levels in approaching assessment tasks
