Biography

I have had a diverse career in higher education, starting in a professional staff appointment and moving up in management roles before transitioning into an academic role and progressing to academic leadership appointment. I am the Program Director for the Master of Business (MBIZ) and its nested programs.

My experiences have shaped my own personal teaching philosophy and purpose, which I express as playing a part in leading the education of ‘thinking’ business professionals who will work to solve the problems of our world using sustainable business practices. My learning and teaching practices and leadership stimulate my students and future Business graduates to learn about the future of business in such a way as to be able to think deeply about how business impacts society and what its social contract with society is. We must educate ourselves out of our global problems (Principles for Responsible Management Education, 2020) and my contribution is to encourage deep thinking and critical pedagogy to educate those who will be instrumental in solving society problems and advancing our collective future.

My career aspirations are to continue to contribute to research and debate around the future of universities, the impact of the Principles of Management Education (PRME) on business curriculum, and the lived experiences of work that impact individuals and society. I aspire to contribute to the development of impactful business curriculum that builds strong generalist business programs. I also aspire to continue my trajectory as an expert in higher education, seeking national and international opportunities to engage and contribute to critical debate and reform of the sector.
