Description of Work

The Cultural Catchments Project was a joint initiative between the USQ Creative Communities, the Queensland Murray Darling Committee and the South-West Queensland Landcare Conference, and involved students and staff from School of Creative Arts investigating arts praxis as a means to enabling cultural activity in schools within the Lower Balonne region of South-West Queensland with relevance to sustainable water management and human relations with Australia’s largest river system.

The project achieved a raft of inter-active arts practice workshops throughout primary and secondary schools from across the region, a touring visual arts exhibition, a Theatre-in-Education (TIE) production (The Doctor and Nursey Wursey's Most Amazing Hydrological Examination) ; a video public memory outcome (available upon request), website (www.usq.edu.au/creativecommunities) and public memory blog (www.mailboxstgeorge.blogspot.com) – all of which explored, documented or enabled cultural representations of the region to be produced and presented by young people from the region.
