Abstract | Field trials were conducted at three field sites in the Fassifern Valley to determine the effect of irrigation non-uniformity on carrot production. Catch cans were used to measure the distribution uniformity. The total seasonal water at each catch can position over the entire growing period was calculated by summing the depths for each irrigation and rainfall. Yield samples were then taken at each catch can position prior to harvest and compared with the total seasonal water. Options to improve irrigation performance using simulation modelling were identified. |
